OUR HISTORY
Founded in 1980 as Covoare Ungheni in Ungheni, Moldova, our story began with a passion for traditional carpet weaving, blending local heritage with emerging technologies to become one of Eastern Europe’s leading manufacturers. In 2003, we evolved into Moldabela through a strategic partnership and production modernization, incorporating state-of-the-art equipment—Schonherr, Van de Wiele, Superba, and others.
By 2020, celebrating our 40th anniversary, we solidified our leadership in natural wool carpets, exporting worldwide and emphasizing sustainability with eco-yarns from New Zealand and the UK. Since 2021, our focus has intensified on eco-innovations: launching collections with renewable materials and biodegradable designs has positioned us as pioneers in sustainable flooring. Today, in 2025, Moldabela continues to thrive, crafting elegant, hypoallergenic rugs that honor our roots while embracing global trends—proving that true quality is woven across generations.

The quality is ensured by using Quality Management System ISO 9001:2000 which is implemented at every level. The company uses only high quality wool from New Zealand and UK, certified by Woolmark , British Wool and Oeko Tex standard. Also Moldabela has successfully passed the BSCI audit.
